Mojas
- Sunday 15 April
In keeping with
our policy to offer various types of ‘Jazz’ for our
members, our latest evening featuring Mojas was certainly a
success.
The band played
two sets of music. The first was mainly jazz-inspired and
featured tunes like ‘Mercy Mercy Mercy’ and ‘Night in
Tunisia’. The second set, however, featured more ‘World
Music’, and this seemed to lift both the band and the
audience. A stunning acoustic flute duet between Rachel
Hargrave and Pete Stacey set the pace for what was to
follow.
Great solos by
Cenfyn Evans on trumpet, mellophone and piccolo trumpet
were underpinned by a solid platform provided by Aijio on
electric bass and Paul Uden on acoustic guitar. Pete Stacey
also continued to shine throughout the set with his
outstanding flute solos and soprano work on ‘Caravan’.
